Treatment Approach
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
- Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) Builds skills in self-kindness and compassion toward others. It is especially helpful for people who struggle with shame or self-criticism.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
- Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
- Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
- Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
- Relational Psychotherapy Emphasizes the healing power of the therapist-client relationship. It uses trust and safety as a foundation for change.
- Schema Therapy Identifies deep-rooted negative patterns formed in childhood. It combines CBT, attachment theory, and experiential methods for change.
- Social Constructionist Therapy Looks at how social and cultural context shapes identity and problems. It helps clients create new narratives of meaning.
Approach Description: Language is the gift that gives us narrative and meaning, but can also keep us trapped by becoming the architect of our own prisons. I see my work with you as helping you change your relationship to what happened so that you can change your narrative. When the story changes, you'll feel more empathic, equipped, and empowered. My therapeutic approach is integrative and evidence-based; providing support, skills education, and practical feedback to help clients effectively reach their goals. I employ complementary, results-oriented methodologies such as mindfulness and acceptance based techniques (ACT). I operate transtheoretically from the model of Process-Based Therapy (PBT), which means that I look at what is keeping you "stuck" in life and utilize the best fitting evidence-based tools to perfectly suit your needs. This approach in non-pathologizing. Together we'll identify the ways in which past experiences have impacted you and the messages you took from that experience. Through the lens of self-compassion, we'll contextualize past behavior as adaptive, but also realistically assess what is working for you versus what you wish to do differently. Part of heading in a new direction involves figuring out your "why" so we also work on values-based action as part of helping you achieve meaningful change.

I view therapy as a collaborative process in which therapist and client form an empathic alliance as we work together towards the client's goal. In short, we're a team. I'm active and engaged as a therapist. If you're looking for the bobblehead therapist that just says "Hmmmm" and lets you sit in silence, that's not me. I use humor and encourage authenticity with my clients. My therapeutic approach is integrative and evidence-based; providing support, skills education, and practical feedback to help you effectively address personal life challenges and enhance well-being. I employ complementary, results-oriented methodologies such as mindfulness and acceptance based techniques (ACT) to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to you. With compassion and understanding, I build on your existing strengths to help you develop resiliency and attain the personal or professional growth you are committed to accomplishing. I believe that every person inherently possesses the strength and values needed to live a healthy and authentic life. I see the work I do with you as illuminating these strengths, helping you to gain perspective on thoughts and behaviors that are barriers to change, and providing you with the tools and insight needed to activate your capabilities in order to reach your full potential. The emotional problems that constitute the work of therapy often keep clients "stuck" due to efforts to avoid the pain and discomfort that comes with life. My therapeutic style helps you build psychological flexibility by learning how to be more present in your life, changing your relationship to your internal experience, and helping you move towards your values. In short, I can help you get un-stuck by giving you the tools to be present, open up, and do what matters.
