It takes courage to change, especially when you feel stuck with painful and confusing thoughts and feelings. You may find yourself struggling to change self-defeating behaviors and frustrated you can’t find relief. Psychotherapy can help you get unstuck. As we explore what is bothering you, you develop a deeper understanding of what is keeping you stuck and use that understanding to work toward living a more fulfilling life. Psychotherapy is a process for better understanding ourselves, especially our automatic, often hidden, and sometimes contradictory motivations, feelings, and desires. If you’re interested in understanding and addressing the psychological factors underlying your concerns in life, I might be a good fit for you. Please take a look at my website and contact me to schedule a free phone consultation.

  • Relational Psychotherapy
Approach Description: My clinical approach is specifically tailored to each individual's needs, goals, and personalities. The heart of effective psychotherapy is a therapeutic relationship where you feel understood and respected enough to openly explore painful and/or unfamiliar parts of yourself. I work to help you increase your understanding of why you do the things you do so you can determine whether to try something different. There is no "correct" way to go about living, but it is possible to find a way of living that suits your life's unique circumstances and needs through a nuanced and individually crafted therapeutic process.

Philip Cooke Practice Description
My practice is committed to providing high quality, culturally-responsive, long term psychotherapy. I focus on helping patients increase self-awareness in the service of making desired, positive changes in life. In addition to extensive experience and training working with most common mental health concerns (e.g., depression, anxiety, PTSD, relationship problems, life transitions, loss/grief), I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ individuals and couples, developmental and complex trauma (e.g., adult survivors of longstanding childhood abuse), and personality concerns. I tend to work best with those interested in working toward lasting psychological change that goes beyond symptom reduction. My clinical approach is specifically tailored to each individual's needs, goals, and personalities. I have daytime and evening availability during the weekdays, both in-person and virtual. I currently work with individuals over 18-years-old, couples, and partners in polyamorous relationships.
