Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Eclectic Therapy Draws from different therapeutic methods based on what fits each client best. It is flexible and personalized rather than following one single model.
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
  • Jungian Therapy Draws on Carl Jung’s ideas about archetypes, dreams, and the collective unconscious. It helps people explore deeper layers of meaning.
  • Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
  • Object Relations Therapy Focuses on how early caregiver relationships shape current relationships. It aims to improve patterns of attachment and trust.
  • Psychoanalytic Therapy Based on Freud’s theories, it explores unconscious conflicts and past experiences. It seeks to bring hidden issues into awareness.

Todd Deutsch Practice Description
Sometimes you know something in your life or relationships needs to change, but understanding what is keeping you stuck or how to move forward can be difficult to figure out on your own. At my business Complete Game Plan, I work with individuals and couples who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, self doubt, anger, relationship difficulties, career concerns, life transitions, or simply a feeling that something is missing. You may feel disconnected from yourself or the people you care about, caught in patterns that keep repeating, or aware that the life you are living does not quite match the life you want. For more than 20 years, I have helped people better understand themselves, their relationships, and the experiences that have shaped how they move through the world. I believe therapy should feel personal, collaborative, genuine, and practical. There is no single formula for meaningful change because every person comes into therapy with a different history, personality, relationships, strengths, challenges, and goals. Whether you are a man or woman, therapy should reflect who you are and what you want from your life. My role is not to tell you who you should become. It is to help you understand yourself more clearly, recognize patterns that may no longer be serving you, build on your strengths, and develop practical tools for creating meaningful change. Together, we look at where you are today, what may be getting in the way, and where you want to go. This may involve understanding old wounds, managing anxiety or anger, strengthening confidence and self esteem, navigating a transition, improving relationships, or learning how to respond differently when life feels overwhelming. I also specialize in working with men around relationships, vulnerability, anger, confidence, attachment, identity, and the pressures men often carry but do not always have a place to talk about openly. My work with men led me to write Grounded Openness, a book about attachment, modern relationships, and how men can become more emotionally open while remaining grounded in themselves. Couples Therapy: Understand Your Patterns. Strengthen Your Connection. Relationships can be one of the most meaningful parts of our lives, but they can also be some of the most challenging. Every couple experiences disagreement, conflict, and periods of disconnection. Healthy relationships are not defined by never having conflict, but by learning to understand what is happening beneath it, communicate more effectively, repair difficult moments, and remain connected to one another. Couples counseling goes beyond simply addressing the argument happening in the moment. Together, we look at the deeper emotions, expectations, communication styles, and patterns shaping the relationship. An important part of my work with couples is understanding each partner’s attachment style and how those patterns interact. Our experiences with closeness, trust, safety, and connection can influence how we respond when a relationship feels uncertain. One partner may seek reassurance, conversation, or greater closeness, while the other may feel overwhelmed, withdraw, shut down, or need space. Often, neither partner is trying to create distance or conflict. Each may be responding to fear, hurt, or disconnection in a very different way. Understanding this dynamic can help couples recognize patterns such as pursuing and withdrawing, defensiveness, emotional shutdown, anxiety and reassurance seeking, difficulty trusting, fear of vulnerability, or having the same argument repeatedly without resolution. Instead of focusing only on “Who is right?”, we begin exploring “What is happening between us, and why do we keep getting stuck here?” That shift can create greater understanding, empathy, emotional safety, and connection. Couples counseling also focuses on identifying communication patterns that support or interfere with the relationship, including what relationship researcher John Gottman describes as the Four Horsemen: criticism, contempt, defensiveness, and stonewalling. We work on recognizing these patterns earlier and developing healthier ways to communicate, repair, manage conflict, express needs, rebuild trust, and strengthen intimacy. At the heart of Complete Game Plan is the belief that meaningful change begins with greater self awareness and understanding, but it also requires the courage and confidence to begin doing things differently. Whether you are struggling personally, feeling disconnected in your relationship, navigating a major transition, or simply wanting more from your life, therapy can provide a place to slow things down, understand what is happening, and create a clearer path forward. Complete Game Plan offers individual therapy, couples counseling, therapy specializing in men and men’s issues, and online therapy with a warm, personalized, and practical approach to creating meaningful & lasting change.
