I believe healing happens in relationship. When you've spent years feeling unseen, unheard, or unable to be fully yourself, something profound shifts when someone finally witnesses you with genuine acceptance. That's the foundation of the work we'll do together.
I'm Devan, a licensed psychotherapist specializing in anxiety, trauma, identity development, and the unique challenges faced by men, young adults, LGBTQ+ individuals, and those healing from religious or spiritual wounding. My approach combines evidence-based techniques with a deeply relational, heart-centered presence.
Many of my clients come to therapy carrying burdens they've held for years—sometimes decades. They've learned to manage, to push through, to appear fine on the outside while struggling internally. They've tried to think their way out of emotional pain or wondered if something is fundamentally wrong with them. If any of this resonates, I want you to know: your struggles make sense given what you've experienced. And healing is absolutely possible.
My own journey shapes the work I do. For years, I lived according to expectations that weren't my own—following the "right" path, attending the "right" church, presenting the version of myself I believed others needed to see. The process of questioning my religious upbringing and coming into my authentic identity as a transgender person taught me firsthand how painful—and ultimately liberating—it can be to reclaim your own truth. I don't share this to center myself in your story, but so you know that when I sit with you in the messy, uncertain, grief-filled, and eventually joyful work of becoming yourself, I'm not speaking from theory alone.
In our work together, you can expect a space where you're valued exactly as you are. I won't try to fix you because I don't believe you're broken. Instead, I'll help you understand the patterns that developed to protect you, access the wisdom your emotions are offering, and gradually build a life aligned with your actual values and desires—not the ones you inherited.
I draw from several therapeutic approaches depending on what serves you best. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps process traumatic memories so they no longer hijack your present. Somatic and body-based techniques address the ways stress and trauma live in your nervous system. Person-centered therapy provides the relational foundation where healing can occur. And practical tools for emotional regulation, communication, and boundary-setting give you skills you can use immediately.
Some things I want you to know before reaching out:
You don't need to have the "right" words or know exactly what you need. We'll figure it out together.
Your pace matters. Healing isn't linear, and I won't rush you through difficult emotions or pressure you to move faster than feels safe.
You deserve a therapist who gets it. Whether you're navigating gender identity, processing religious trauma, working through anxiety that's controlled your life for too long, or simply trying to figure out who you are now that you're finally asking the question—you deserve support from someone who truly understands.
If you're a young adult trying to find your footing in a world that feels overwhelming, a man learning to access emotions you were taught to suppress, someone questioning or affirming your gender or sexuality, or anyone healing from experiences that left you feeling disconnected from yourself—I'd be honored to walk alongside you.
The fact that you're reading this means something in you is ready. Reach out when you are.
