Connect Your Custom Domain to Your TherapyTribe Website

A domain name (e.g. example.com) is your website’s address on the internet.

Note: This temporary domain is not indexed by Google and will not appear in search results.

Why Use a Custom Domain?

Owning your own domain is highly recommended because it:

• Builds long-term credibility for your practice
• Helps clients find you easily
• Its affordable and simple to manage
• Looks more professional (e.g. janesmiththerapy.com, sandiegotherapist.com)

Using your own domain is recommended, but not required, for TherapyTribe websites.

Option 1: Setting Up a New Domain

If you don’t yet own a domain, we recommend purchasing one from Hover.com — an easy-to-use registrar with reliable customer service. However, we can also work with any registrar of your choice. You only need to buy the domain itself. Email hosting (e.g. jane@example.com) is optional.

Once you’ve purchased your domain, follow the 2-Step Domain Mapping instructions below to make your TherapyTribe website live.

Option 2: Transferring an Existing Domain

If you already have a domain from another website provider please first confirm that you own and control the registration. Some providers (such as TherapySites, BrighterVision, Wix, or Web.com), register domains under their own accounts. If this is the case, you can request that they release ownership to you.

To transfer your domain:

1. Contact your current website provider and request an authorization code (EPP code) to release your domain.
2. Go to the Hover Transfer Page and follow the prompts to transfer & purchase your domain. You only need to purchase the domain itself. Email hosting (e.g. jane@example.com) is optional.
3. Transfers typically take 5–7 days.

Once Hover confirms your domain has been transferred, complete the 2-Step Domain Mapping process below.

2-Step Domain Mapping

Follow these instructions to connect your domain to your TherapyTribe website.

Step 1: Update Your DNS Records

Contact your domain registrar and ask them to make the following changes:

• Point your domain’s A record to 23.253.20.17
• Add a CNAME record for www that points to @ or (your domain)
• Confirm that your Nameservers are set to your registrar’s default nameservers.
• Remove any additional A records

Step 2: Add Your Domain in TherapyTribe

Add your domain (without “www”) in the following field:

[example.com] [Add]

Final Steps

That’s it — you’re done! Please allow about 15 minutes for your SSL certificate to generate and your website to go live on your custom domain. Once live, remember to:

• Add your new domain to your TherapyTribe listing
• Update your marketing materials, social media and directories with your new website link
