Kristin Robert (She/Her)

Marriage and Family Therapist, AMFT
 therapist: Kristin Robert,

I came to this work through a deep respect for the complexity of human experience and the ways people adapt in order to survive. Over the years, I have seen how pain, loss, and conflict can quietly shape a person’s inner world, often long before they have language for it. I am continually moved by the courage it takes to look at these experiences honestly and to ask for support when something no longer feels sustainable. What draws me to this work is the opportunity to sit with people at meaningful crossroads in their lives. I value conversations that are real, reflective, and grounded, and I believe healing happens not through quick answers, but through understanding, presence, and trust built over time. I approach therapy with curiosity and humility, holding space for complexity rather than certainty. At a personal level, I believe in accountability without shame, depth without intensity for its own sake, and care that respects autonomy. I am committed to showing up thoughtfully and consistently, honoring the responsibility that comes with being invited into someone’s inner life. This work matters to me because it offers the possibility of greater clarity, connection, and integrity, both within ourselves and in how we relate to others.

Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Biopsychosocial Therapy Takes into account biological, psychological, and social factors in understanding mental health. It looks at the whole person, not just symptoms.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
  • Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
  • Gestalt Therapy Encourages awareness of thoughts, feelings, and actions in the present moment. It helps people integrate different parts of themselves for wholeness.
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Jungian Therapy Draws on Carl Jung’s ideas about archetypes, dreams, and the collective unconscious. It helps people explore deeper layers of meaning.
  • Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.

Kristin Robert Practice Description
My practice offers individual, couples, and family therapy for adults navigating complex emotional and relational concerns. I work with clients experiencing grief and loss, suicidal thoughts, high-conflict relationship dynamics, and the impact of sexual addiction, infidelity, and betrayal. Many clients come to therapy feeling stuck in patterns that no longer make sense, overwhelmed by internal conflict, or uncertain about how to move forward in a way that feels stable and authentic. The work is relational, trauma-informed, and depth-oriented, with attention to both emotional meaning and practical application. Therapy focuses on understanding what underlies distress, addressing patterns that maintain suffering, and supporting healthier ways of relating to oneself and others. Sessions are paced intentionally, balancing insight, accountability, and emotional safety, particularly in the context of high conflict or long-standing relational wounds. This practice is well-suited for clients who value thoughtful exploration, honest dialogue, and a collaborative therapeutic process. Whether working individually or relationally, the goal is not symptom management alone, but greater clarity, integration, and the capacity to engage life and relationships with more intention and steadiness. https://www.kristinrobertpsychotherapy.com/
