I believe that play is an important part of self care for all ages. Therapy doesn't have to feel like another fix or to do. It can be playful, enlightening and healing. You do not need to have skills or talent to use art materials for art therapy. It's a form of communication. You will be creating...creating a new, happier, healthier you!

Treatment Approach
- Art Therapy Uses creative activities like drawing, painting, or sculpture as a way to express emotions. It is especially helpful when words are hard to find.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
- Play Therapy Uses toys, games, and creative play to help children express emotions. It is especially useful when children can’t fully verbalize their feelings.

I have done art therapy with ages 3 through 93! If you are interested in using art therapy, know that it can plug into many different kinds of therapy and help with a variety of healing needs. Together, we can move through grief, trauma, behavioral changes and the transitions and stress of everyday life. You may express emotions through the colors, lines and shapes and tell your stories. The art will mirror back what you have expressed, as well as revealing treasures by showing you things that you didn't even know or realize. It will help you make connections and see patterns as well as release trauma. Healing doesn't have to be heavy or hard. It can be playful, fun and bring you peace and joy. Are you curious about how Art Therapy may fit in for you or your child or teen? I would love to chat and answer any questions you may have about how this may fit into your care.
