Treatment Approach
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
- Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) An evidence-based treatment for PTSD that teaches clients to reframe unhelpful thoughts about trauma. It helps reduce guilt, shame, and fear.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
- Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
- Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.
- Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.

The CBT Center is a group practice based in Highland Park, NJ. We were founded in 2016 with a pretty simple idea: people deserve access to really good therapy. Not just "fine" therapy. Not "I guess this is helping?" therapy. Actually good, science-backed, delivered-by-people-who-care therapy.
Thanks to PSYPact, we see patients across New Jersey, New York, and 40+ states virtually, which means wherever you are, you can probably work with us.
What we do
We specialize in evidence-based treatments: CBT, ACT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, exposure therapy, mindfulness, self-compassion... all the acronyms. The short version: we use approaches that have actually been researched and shown to work, not just whatever sounds good.
We treat anxiety, OCD, depression, trauma, PTSD, life transitions, grief, relationship issues, and more. We offer individual therapy, couples therapy, and family therapy. Sessions are a full 60 minutes because your stuff deserves the time.
Who we are
Our team is made up of doctoral-level psychologists and licensed clinicians who are genuinely good at what they do and also genuinely easy to talk to. We're warm. We're real. We'll laugh with you when it's appropriate and sit with you in the hard stuff when it's not. We take the work seriously without taking ourselves too seriously.
We're a small practice by design. That means you're not a number, your therapist actually knows you, and the care stays consistent and personal from session one.
How it works
We're an out-of-network practice. Many of our patients use their out-of-network benefits to help with cost, and we're happy to provide documentation to make that process easy. If you're not sure what your plan covers, a quick call to your insurance company is a great place to start.
Why us
Because we're really good at this, and we make it as comfortable as possible to actually do the work. People come to us having tried other therapists, other approaches, other practices and they stay because this one actually fits.
We believe therapy should feel like a collaboration, not a lecture. Grounded in science, delivered with humanity. If that sounds like what you've been looking for, we'd love to connect.
