Living with an eating disorder can feel like a full-time job you never applied for. If you’re feeling exhausted by the cycle of shame and the constant disconnect from your own body, you aren't alone. Many of my clients arrive feeling as though their thoughts about food have entirely eclipsed their personality and passions. It’s time to move past the isolation. Together, we can work toward a life where you feel grounded, emotionally resilient, and back in the driver’s seat. You deserve a therapeutic space where your struggle is met with deep understanding rather than judgment. If you’re ready to reclaim your life and reconnect with the person you were meant to be, I’m here to help. You don’t have to manage this burden in isolation. If you’re ready to explore a life defined by freedom rather than food, I invite you to schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation via my website. I look forward to supporting you on your journey toward wellness.

Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: I utilize a multifaceted, holistic framework that goes beyond surface-level behavioral change. I integrate evidence-based modalities to support a transformation that actually lasts: Polyvagal-Informed Therapy: I focus on your nervous system to help you move out of "fight, flight, or freeze" states. By understanding how your body responds to stress, I teach you how to regulate your emotions so you can finally feel safe in your own skin. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy: Treatment centers on your values and goals, and embracing, rather than running from, the fear. Health At Every Size (HAES®) & Weight Neutrality: I firmly reject the harmful standards of the BMI and the toxicity of diet culture. My focus is on health-promoting behaviors and intuitive connection. I believe every body—regardless of size—deserves dignified, effective, and compassionate care. Trauma-Informed: For many, an eating disorder is a response to past trauma, including religious trauma. I help you untangle these roots, processing the "why" behind your behaviors so you can move forward with clarity and self-compassion. Collaborative Care: I know that recovery requires a village. I work alongside a trusted network of providers, including physicians and dietitians, to ensure your medical and nutritional needs are met while we focus on the deep psychological healing.

Therapy Sessions Elizabeth Hammond Practice Description
In my practice, I see you—not just the symptoms you’re carrying. For many of my clients, the relationship with food and the body has become an all-consuming force that dictates every decision, interaction, and emotion. You might find yourself trapped in a relentless cycle of restriction, binge eating, or purging, feeling as though your life is no longer your own. The weight of shame, the exhaustion of constant mental calculations, and the profound isolation of disordered eating can make it feel like you are disappearing. I want you to know that your eating disorder is rarely just about food. In our work together, we recognize it as a complex coping mechanism—a way you’ve learned to navigate past trauma, manage overwhelming emotions, or survive in a culture that demands perfection. My mission is to provide a space where you are treated as a whole person worthy of connection, presence, and authentic joy. As a therapist, I am committed to providing expert, trauma-informed care that centers your lived experience. My practice is intentionally designed as a safe harbor for women and the LGBTQIA+ community—individuals who are disproportionately impacted by societal pressures, body-based oppression, and diet culture. I understand the unique barriers faced by queer, trans, and non-binary individuals within the mental health system. In my office, your identity is not just respected; it is the foundation of our work. I believe that true healing cannot occur without addressing the external systems of oppression that cause us to disconnect from our bodies. By offering gender-affirming and weight-neutral care, I help you dismantle the internalized messages of "not enough" or "too much," allowing you to reclaim your power and define your worth on your own terms. I recognize that recovery isn't one-size-fits-all. I’ve designed my services to meet you exactly where you are in your journey. Recovery is about more than just the absence of an eating disorder; it is about the presence of you. It is about being able to sit at a table with friends and focus on the laughter rather than the plate. It is about looking in the mirror and seeing a human being rather than a problem to be solved. You don’t have to do this alone. If you are ready to stop simply surviving and start truly living, I invite you to take that first step with me. Reach out today to schedule a free 15-minute consultation. Together, we will help you access the capacity for healing that has been inside you all along.
