Treatment Approach
- Art Therapy Uses creative activities like drawing, painting, or sculpture as a way to express emotions. It is especially helpful when words are hard to find.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
- Drama Therapy Uses role-play, storytelling, and theater techniques to explore problems and emotions. It helps people practice new ways of relating to others.
- Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
- Feminist Therapy Addresses how gender roles, power, and social inequality affect mental health. It empowers clients to challenge limiting beliefs and systems.
- Gestalt Therapy Encourages awareness of thoughts, feelings, and actions in the present moment. It helps people integrate different parts of themselves for wholeness.
- Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
- Multicultural Therapy Acknowledges the role of culture, race, and identity in mental health. It values diversity and adapts treatment to each person’s background.
- Play Therapy Uses toys, games, and creative play to help children express emotions. It is especially useful when children can’t fully verbalize their feelings.
- Psychoanalytic Therapy Based on Freud’s theories, it explores unconscious conflicts and past experiences. It seeks to bring hidden issues into awareness.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
- Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: At Thea Integrative Therapy, I help people reconnect with their authentic selves and align their lives with their truest joyful expression by breaking the mold of traditional talk therapy. My unique approach blends depth and playfulness — because therapy doesn’t have to feel dry or clinical to be meaningful. Healing can be both meaningful and lighthearted, and I believe that laughter, creativity, and curiosity belong in the room just as much as insight and reflection do.
Think of our work together as expansive play therapy for grown-ups and inner children alike — or two people engaged in an honest, compassionate, and deeply human conversation. My goal is to create a space where you can explore, experiment, and grow while feeling genuinely seen and supported.
My approach is informed by my life experience and the intersections of my identity. I am neurodivergent, queer, and gender fluid. I have experienced adversity and trauma, and I feel deeply. I am an imaginative, expressive, and imperfect human, just like you. My unique life experiences, creativity, and identity inform the type of individualized care I provide to my clients. I strive above all things to be connective, caring, and authentic with you; to invite you to do the same.
Fees & Insurance
Fees
- Average Session Fee 215
- Affordable sliding scale therapy: apply if you may be eligible.
- Sliding scale offered on a limited, case by case basis. Sliding scale is a tool that allows for services to be obtained at multiple price points based on the circumstances of the purchaser. Sliding scale is offered to ensure that people of various economic backgrounds are able to access services, with an emphasis on those who are systemically and historically marginalized, such as queer, transgender, and people of color. To understand if you fall under sliding scale pricing, consider the concept of sacrifice vs hardship. Therapy with a specialized and credentialed provider is financial investment in your wellness. Therapy is a financial sacrifice and investment in yourself, much as you may sacrifice financially to afford getting your hair done, traveling, getting a new outfit, etc. Therapy should not be a source of financial hardship, in which you cannot meet your core needs of food, shelter, transportation, etc. if you pay for services. That said, please look up the "green bottle method," to understand if sliding scale makes sense for you, and to understand where you may fall in terms of sacrifice vs hardship.

- I provide superbills every time you are billed, to be submitted to insurance for reimbursement. To understand your coverage, check your insurance benefits explanation.
