Melissa Clark with Fire and Reins (She/Her)
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW
*Nature Based Therapy in Lakewood, Golden, Summit County and Steamboat Springs, Colorado*
Many of my clients are insightful, high-functioning people who feel stuck in painful relationship patterns, anxiety, heartbreak, disconnection, or major life transitions. They may look like they are holding everything together on the outside while internally feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, lost, or disconnected from themselves and others.
I help individuals and couples slow down, understand the deeper roots of their struggles, and create healthier ways of relating — both to themselves and the people they love.

Treatment Approach
- Equine-Assisted Therapy (Horse Therapy) Involves interactions with horses to support emotional awareness and growth. It can build trust, confidence, and calmness.
- Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
- Gestalt Therapy Encourages awareness of thoughts, feelings, and actions in the present moment. It helps people integrate different parts of themselves for wholeness.
- Relational Psychotherapy Emphasizes the healing power of the therapist-client relationship. It uses trust and safety as a foundation for change.
- Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: My approach is experiential, relational, and grounded in increasing awareness of the patterns that shape how we relate to ourselves and others. Rather than simply focusing on symptom management or giving advice, I help clients better understand their emotional wounds, nervous system responses, and relational dynamics that keep them feeling stuck.
Together, we explore:
~Relationship and attachment patterns
~Anxiety and emotional overwhelm
~Self-worth and identity struggles
~Grief, betrayal, and heartbreak
~Communication and intimacy issues
~People pleasing and disconnection from self
~Life transitions and personal growth
I integrate Gestalt therapy, attachment-focused work, somatic awareness, mindfulness, and experiential therapy to help clients move beyond insight alone and begin experiencing real change in their daily lives and relationships.

I offer therapy for individuals and couples who are ready to engage their lives and relationships with greater depth, honesty, and intention. Many of my clients come to me in the midst of heartbreak, relationship challenges, or significant life transitions—when something familiar no longer fits, and they’re being asked to meet themselves in a new way.
My work goes beyond traditional talk therapy in a sterile office. I integrate experiential and nature-based-as well as the option for equine partnered- approaches to help you move out of repetitive patterns and into a more grounded, connected way of being. Rather than staying at the level of insight alone, we work in real time with what’s emerging—so change isn’t just something you understand, but something you begin to live.
I offer relationship therapy and couples intensives for clients across Colorado-including Denver, Lakewood, Golden, Evergreen, Silverthorne, Winter Park and Steamboat Springs. (Jefferson County, Summit County, Grand County, and Routt County). Sessions in-person and outdoors in select locations. Virtual sessions also available due to weather or travel.
This is a thoughtful, collaborative process for those who are ready for meaningful change. If you’re looking for a space that is both steady and direct—where you can be fully honest and supported in shifting how you show up in your life and relationships—this work is designed to meet you there.
We start with a free 15 minute virtual exploratory call and see if this is a good fit for you!
