My approach is warm, relational, and insight-oriented, helping clients better understand longstanding patterns, deepen self-awareness, and create meaningful, lasting change. Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Ketamine-Assisted Therapy Combines low doses of ketamine with psychotherapy to treat depression, trauma, and anxiety. It can provide relief when other methods haven’t worked.
  • Multicultural Therapy Acknowledges the role of culture, race, and identity in mental health. It values diversity and adapts treatment to each person’s background.
  • Psychoanalytic Therapy Based on Freud’s theories, it explores unconscious conflicts and past experiences. It seeks to bring hidden issues into awareness.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
  • Relational Psychotherapy Emphasizes the healing power of the therapist-client relationship. It uses trust and safety as a foundation for change.
Approach Description: My approach is warm, relational, and insight-oriented. I tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs, helping people better understand the emotional and relational patterns shaping how they move through life. My work is grounded in attachment and insight-oriented therapy while integrating mindfulness, somatic awareness, and practical tools when helpful. I aim to create a space where you feel deeply understood while also gently challenged toward growth. I have specialized training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and particular expertise in trauma, perinatal mental health, cultural identity and immigration-related concerns. I also offer psychedelic integration and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) for clients seeking support in making sense of psychedelic experiences or exploring deeper therapeutic work.

Cicek Erdem Practice Description
Many people seek therapy when they begin noticing patterns they no longer want to repeat—relationship struggles, persistent self-doubt, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or ways of coping that no longer feel workable. My approach is warm, relational, and insight-oriented. I believe meaningful change comes not only from symptom relief, but from better understanding the emotional and relationship patterns shaping how we move through life. I tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs and have particular expertise in trauma, perinatal mental health, couples therapy, cultural identity and immigration-related concerns, and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP). I also offer psychedelic integration for clients seeking support in making sense of psychedelic experiences or exploring deeper therapeutic work. In addition to private practice, I trained and worked in hospital psychiatry, college counseling, and community mental health settings across New York City. As a Turkish-American psychologist, I bring cultural humility and sensitivity to questions of identity, belonging, and navigating different cultural worlds.
