Treatment Approach
- Christian Counseling Blends psychological practices with Christian values and scripture. It provides faith-based support for life challenges and spiritual growth.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
- Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: I will work with you to complete an individualized assessment, in order to understand and outline your needs, goals, and personal dreams. Then we will use that information to create a personalized plan for overcoming your specific barriers and challenges. We will examine patterns in the way that you think and act, and the way that you respond to problems, and I will help you learn specific skills for changing the things that keep you stuck. This may look like helping you find motivation, looking at negative or unhelpful beliefs about yourself and the world, or practicing ways to confront anxiety and avoidance. It may also look like helping you explore and repackage the narratives that you have believed about your life related to trauma, loss, or grief. I can help you learn more adaptive ways to understand and live from the most difficult parts of your story, so that your greatest challenge can become your greatest strength.

Ben Livesay, LCSW, is the owner of Firepath Counseling LLC. Firepath Counseling operates on the principle that we can’t make progress in our lives by moving away from hard things, and that we usually have to face the fire in order to find healing. The fire is terrifying because it forces us to change. It affects us in a way that is uncomfortable, and sometimes pushes us to change things that we don’t want to change. But if we let it work, the cleansing nature of fire produces clarity, peace, wellbeing, and hope as the broken areas in our lives have the ability to heal and regrow. Firepath Counseling exists to stand beside you in the fires of your life so that you don’t have to walk alone.
