In-Person in Brooklyn, NY 11249
Having worked for a decade, I have supported clients through the nuanced and demanding areas of interpersonal stress, major life transitions, identity exploration, and the long-lasting impact of early adverse childhood experiences. I hold particular care and awareness towards the cultural, relational, and systemic forces that shape a person’s sense of self. I feel especially attuned to how family histories and early attachments influence adult relationships, therefore, I often invite clients to explore identity, unlearn old narratives, and build relationships that feel grounded and authentic. My unique, yet collective experiences as a child of immigrant parents and a South Asian woman allow me to recognize how family expectations, cultural identity, gender identity, and other parts of ourselves are important in the therapy work.

- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
- Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
- Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
- Multicultural Therapy Acknowledges the role of culture, race, and identity in mental health. It values diversity and adapts treatment to each person’s background.
- Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
- Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
- Relational Psychotherapy Emphasizes the healing power of the therapist-client relationship. It uses trust and safety as a foundation for change.
Approach Description: My clinical work is integrative, drawing from psychodynamic therapy, attachment-based approaches, multicultural counseling, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I am trained in the Gottman Method Level One, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and a certified PREPARE/ENRICH premarital and marital counselor.
I have provided trauma-informed care since 2015 and have training alongside knowledge towards how trauma begins, how trauma impacts our mind and body, and the work it can take to heal. Majority of my clinical work focuses on supporting people to share their story, learn and re-learn tools to cope with present-day stress, and move forward from past experiences that have caused harm. Trauma can be defined in several ways and I work with clients to make sense of their story.
