Treatment Approach
- Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) An evidence-based treatment for PTSD that teaches clients to reframe unhelpful thoughts about trauma. It helps reduce guilt, shame, and fear.
- Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
Approach Description: Together, we’ll explore the patterns and pain points in your life with care. I use approaches like CBT, Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP), CBT-AR and CBT-E, always through a trauma-informed and person-centered lens. But just as important as the tools is the relationship we’ll build something grounded in trust and mutual respect.

I'm Ricardo Despradel, a licensed mental health counselor specializing in the evidence-based treatment of OCD and anxiety-related disorders. I work with children, adolescents, and adults who are caught in cycles of intrusive thoughts, compulsions, and avoidance patterns that can quietly erode daily functioning and quality of life if left untreated. My primary approach is Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard treatment for OCD, which I pair with a warm, collaborative style to help clients build genuine tolerance for uncertainty and reclaim what matters most to them. Beyond OCD, I also specialize in Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), treated with CBT-AR, and tic disorders and Tourette Syndrome, treated with Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT) bringing the same structured, research-backed approach to each of these often underserved conditions. I offer telehealth sessions across New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts, and am in-network with most major commercial insurers. If you're ready to stop managing OCD and start treating it, I'd be glad to help.
