Treatment Approach

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
Approach Description: When we experience stressful situations (IE trauma, workplace conflict, relational stress, life transition), it can change how we view ourselves and the world. It can get "stuck", kind of like a CD that keeps looping. We can mentally "know" we are "ok" but continue to feel anxious, on edge and upset when reminded of past stressful situations. This can sometimes be very obvious and other times look like "why am I so numb right now" or "why am I pulling away all of a sudden". I blend different types of EMDR (IE attachment focused, flash technique) to support with desensitizing memories of past stressful situations and to help the CD to "play through". Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence based treatment that helps you live in the present, handle hard feelings, and build better relationships. It teaches practical skills to reduce stress, lower fear, and grow your self-confidence. I sometimes integrate DBT with EMDR, as they tend to compliment one another. I also draw from Gottman's Method to support with navigating relational challenges, as it provides a clear framework for fostering healthy and happy relationships.
