I entered the field of social work 39 years ago because I believed that everyone needs an advocate to help them through those tough times. Life throws everyone curveballs, and everyone needs someone to turn to when life becomes overwhelming. I have found this true whether you are 10 or 60 years old. Everyone needs a nonjudgmental person to help them through life’s curveballs that life throws at everyone.

Treatment Approach
- Biopsychosocial Therapy Takes into account biological, psychological, and social factors in understanding mental health. It looks at the whole person, not just symptoms.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) Builds skills in self-kindness and compassion toward others. It is especially helpful for people who struggle with shame or self-criticism.
- Developmental Therapy Looks at how childhood and developmental experiences affect current challenges. It aims to repair unmet needs and foster healthy growth.
- Eclectic Therapy Draws from different therapeutic methods based on what fits each client best. It is flexible and personalized rather than following one single model.
- Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
- Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
- Gestalt Therapy Encourages awareness of thoughts, feelings, and actions in the present moment. It helps people integrate different parts of themselves for wholeness.
- Multicultural Therapy Acknowledges the role of culture, race, and identity in mental health. It values diversity and adapts treatment to each person’s background.
- Play Therapy Uses toys, games, and creative play to help children express emotions. It is especially useful when children can’t fully verbalize their feelings.
- Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
- Psychosocial Therapy Looks at how social and environmental factors affect psychological health. It emphasizes relationships, community, and resilience.
Approach Description: My approach is eclectic in that I meet my clients where they are and develop a treatment plan that meets their specific needs. I find with children and young adolescents that their language of learning is play. I will play with the child as the medium of change.

Children have various problems; some are developmental, and some are situational. All children need to be heard. Children need to have fun while learning new skills. I specialize in helping children and teens reach their social-emotional and social-skill development.
I have learned over my career that children need support to feel comfortable sharing what is bothering them and to learn new and productive ways of acting. I have also learned that play is the language of children. It must be fun if you want children to open up and learn new skills. Parents need to feel supported to be their child’s advocate.
I meet families and children where they are and develop plans to assist them in reaching their highest potential.
