Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) Builds skills in self-kindness and compassion toward others. It is especially helpful for people who struggle with shame or self-criticism.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
  • Relational Psychotherapy Emphasizes the healing power of the therapist-client relationship. It uses trust and safety as a foundation for change.
Approach Description: Our approach integrates Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and trauma-focused treatment (e.g., Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, and EMDR) to create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your unique needs. Together, we’ll work on building resilience, developing healthier coping strategies, and embracing self-compassion so you can thrive in the life you envision for yourself. Whether you’re dealing with intrusive thoughts, constant worry, feelings of being “stuck,” or the aftermath of trauma, I’m here to help you untangle the challenges and reclaim your power. My goal is to help you cultivate tools for meaningful change, whether you’re seeking freedom from anxiety, relief from OCD, or deeper self-acceptance.

Melissa Jermann Practice Description
At my practice, I work alongside two PSYPACT-licensed psychologists and a Mental Health Counselor in training. Together, we share a deep passion for helping clients overcome OCD, anxiety, and trauma. All therapists in the practice are trained in the same evidence-based approaches, such as ERP, ACT, and trauma-focused care, and we offer a warm, supportive, and collaborative style of therapy. We also focus on building a safe, inclusive space where individuals from diverse backgrounds, including the LGBTQ+ community, can feel seen, heard, and supported. When you schedule a free 15-minute consultation with me, I’ll work to match you with the therapist within our practice who best aligns with your unique needs. We aim to ensure you feel supported, understood and empowered every step of the way.
