Treatment Approach
- Christian Counseling Blends psychological practices with Christian values and scripture. It provides faith-based support for life challenges and spiritual growth.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
- Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) A short-term approach focused on improving relationships and social support. It is often used for depression and grief.
- Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: We use a mixture of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) along with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and other forms of Expressive Arts Therapies. We use a Person-Centered, Rogerian approach when appropriate and often also employ Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to help our clients over hurdles when needed. As an open-minded Christian himself, Martin Altman is comfortable using Christian-based approaches and integrating faith into counseling. (He's also great at helping with issues like spiritual abuse!) Lastly, we offer trauma-informed grief counseling for those who have lost a loved one.

If you are having difficulty getting things done, managing difficult emotions, or maintaining healthy relationships, then we can help. Our therapist will take the time to carefully listen and understand the complexities of the troubles you are facing and help you understand them in a new light. ADHD, Autism (Level 1), and Anxiety can bring a lot of complexities and leave you feeling overwhelmed, unmotivated, and exhausted. Thankfully, you CAN learn to manage them.
Our approach helps put you back in the driver's seat. You will be in control, and we trust your knowledge of yourself to guide the therapy process. You are the EXPERT on you, and we're here to offer the clinical insights, observations, and challenges that will create more space for your goals. Together, we'll overcome what is holding you back, boost your productivity, and find you "why".
We respect the unique difficulties and stressors that being neurodivergent can bring. We will help you find sensory-based coping strategies that return balance to your life and help you maintain creativity. We're OK with you being a little "neuro-spicy" now and then. We get it! So come on in and bring your full self, just as you are. We are a safe and accepting space.
