I am proudly and openly in long-term recovery myself from substance use disorders. Over the years I’ve learned that there are just many many ways to do this, and a lot of my job and specialty is helping people find and implement the path that works best for them. I offer a lot of “handholding” in the beginning, which seems really helpful for the people I work with. I’ve been told by others that I have a friendly, natural, casual and “organic” presence, which helps people relax and even have fun, which is really important to me.

Treatment Approach
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
- Biopsychosocial Therapy Takes into account biological, psychological, and social factors in understanding mental health. It looks at the whole person, not just symptoms.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Eclectic Therapy Draws from different therapeutic methods based on what fits each client best. It is flexible and personalized rather than following one single model.
- Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
- Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
- Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
- Psychodrama A group therapy that uses role-play and dramatization to process emotions. It helps clients gain perspective and release tension.
Approach Description: I’m not big on cookie-cutter therapy. My approach is honest, direct, and deeply human. I use a mix of motivational interviewing, behavioral work, insight, and real conversation to help people understand what’s keeping them stuck and start making meaningful changes. No pretending. No jargon. Just real work, real accountability, and real support.

I love and meet with all kinds of people. I am genuinely interested in people’s “stories”. I really want to know what makes you…you. What has happened to you? Where have you been in life? Where do you think life is taking you and what would you like to be different? My specialty is working with people with substance use disorders. It’s my passion too. My own sobriety took many different tries and attempts, and took me to some of the worst places a person can go. If you want to know more about THAT story, there are many articles and news stories about me on my website or the internet. Those things were important. They made me who I am; but what I want to know really, is who you are? What lights you up? What makes your life meaningful? What are YOU struggling with today?
