Treatment Approach

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
  • Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
Approach Description: I use several different modalities depending on what my client's goals are and the issues they are dealing with. For individuals struggling with anxiety I use a Cognitive Behavioral Approach along with self compassion. I find that CBT helps clients better understand how their brain works and increases their awareness of destructive thought patterns. Self compassion then helps them to strengthen their inner cheerleader and turn down the volume on the inner critic. For individuals working through depression, I help them find ways to strengthen their basic self care needs like sleep and eating habits and help them learn healthy ways to cope. Then we work on accessing emotions, tolerating them better and actively processing them so that they truly resolve instead of stacking up. For those looking to work through past trauma I use both EMDR and IFS (parts work). These approaches help clients access difficult emotions related to the trauma they experienced and then gives them a structure in which to work through those emotions to find resolution. For couples, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy and Gottman Method. Gottman method helps couples learn communication skills and Emotionally Focused Therapy helps couples understand how to access and communicate about the deeper hurt feelings underneath the anger they feel.
