I am a counseling psychologist with a high level of personal responsibility and a strong drive to provide high-quality counseling services. I strive to individualize my services to each client’s needs and do not follow a “one-size-fits-all” approach. I believe therapy is an art AND a science and pay special attention to the needs and preferences of each client. I keep a small caseload to help prevent burnout and to allow myself to better focus on the individuals I serve.
I identify as a first-generation college student, a cycle-breaker, and a mother to a child with a disability called Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). I know what it is like to persevere and overcome hardships in everyday life. I also strongly value bringing humanness and humility to my counseling practice, allowing for authentic connection.

- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
- Feminist Therapy Addresses how gender roles, power, and social inequality affect mental health. It empowers clients to challenge limiting beliefs and systems.
- Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) A short-term approach focused on improving relationships and social support. It is often used for depression and grief.
- Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.
- Multicultural Therapy Acknowledges the role of culture, race, and identity in mental health. It values diversity and adapts treatment to each person’s background.
- Object Relations Therapy Focuses on how early caregiver relationships shape current relationships. It aims to improve patterns of attachment and trust.
- Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
- Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
- Relational Psychotherapy Emphasizes the healing power of the therapist-client relationship. It uses trust and safety as a foundation for change.
Approach Description: I am an integrative psychologist who works primarily from a psychodynamic framework and heavily incorporates aspects of emotion-focused therapy and feminist therapy. I believe in the power of healing connections and work to provide a corrective emotional and interpersonal experience. As an intersectional feminist, I often initiate conversations about how different aspects of one’s identity affects their lived experiences.

Cummings Brandenburg Counseling PLLC is social justice oriented and committed to providing the flexibility today’s life requires. I have been in private practice for over a year after finding the constraints of other practice settings too limiting. I enjoy being able to tailor my services to the needs of each client rather than requiring they follow a certain plan or treatment regime.
