At Body Sense Psychology, I help you make sense of how your body holds your story. Life experiences, stress, trauma and health conditions show up physically as much as psychologically. By working together, I can help you understand these connections and create pathways towards change, healing and resilience. As a fully registered psychologist I provide a safe, nurturing and non-judgemental environment for clients from all walks of life. I have a strong focus on ensuring that I'm the right therapeutic fit for you and work towards a deep understanding of you, your story, where you are now, and where you'd like to be. I apply the latest evidence-based psychological approaches that are appropriate for your needs and goals.

Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
  • Biopsychosocial Therapy Takes into account biological, psychological, and social factors in understanding mental health. It looks at the whole person, not just symptoms.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) Builds skills in self-kindness and compassion toward others. It is especially helpful for people who struggle with shame or self-criticism.
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
  • Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) A short-term approach focused on improving relationships and social support. It is often used for depression and grief.
  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
  • Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
  • Psychoanalytic Therapy Based on Freud’s theories, it explores unconscious conflicts and past experiences. It seeks to bring hidden issues into awareness.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
  • Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
  • Psychosocial Therapy Looks at how social and environmental factors affect psychological health. It emphasizes relationships, community, and resilience.
  • Schema Therapy Identifies deep-rooted negative patterns formed in childhood. It combines CBT, attachment theory, and experiential methods for change.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: I use a range of evidence-based approaches that are tailored to your needs and therapeutic goals. At the start of our sessions, I'll refine what these goals are and will periodically check to see if you're happy with the progress we make and if any adjustments are needed. I'm very focused on getting practical, real-world outcomes for my clients so you can expect a mix of psychoeducation, traditional talking therapies, specific therapies (such as CBT) as well a practical exercises both within sessions and as homework between sessions. Your growth is my priority so I tailor what we do together to focus on meeting your goals, whatever they may be.

Body Sense Psychology Practice Description
My practice focuses on the treatment of physical and sexual health conditions, as well as general mental and emotional wellbeing. I'm experienced in the treatment of chronic pain, recovery from injury, illness or disability, gender, sexuality and relational issues, sexual and reproductive health and trauma. I work with all types of clients, both individually and as a couple and am sexuality, gender and neurodiversity affirming. Clients who work with me develop a deep understanding of who they are now, where they’ve come from, where they want to get to, and how their emotions, thoughts and experiences sit within their bodies. By reconnecting with this physical experience and starting with something concrete, we can work up to how this translates into what happens in your mind, and how to realise the changes you want to see in your life. My approach is: Non-judgemental – creating a safe and empathetic space to learn, heal and grow. Integrative – blending psychological, somatic (physical) and holistic approaches that treat you as a whole person. Evidence based – drawing on the latest research to guide effective treatment. Personalised – tailored to your unique needs and goals. Context driven – understanding the where, what, why and how you’ve come to be where you are.
