I co-own Healing Reflections Therapy: Diversity, Trauma, and Wellness Services with my partner Megan Garza. We each have over twenty-five years of experience working as therapists. We integrate those values into everything we do. I love the work that I do and especially enjoy helping to empower clients and help them to make their therapy goals and dreams a reality. I have a genuine and transparent approach with clients. I balance active listening with interpretations and feedback, while treating therapy as a fluid, nuanced conversation. I meet people where they are at and am informed, open and affirming of LGBTQ+ identities, chronic illness, kink and non-monogamous relationship dynamics. I welcome clients from all walks of life and marginalized communities. I enjoy meeting with people from a variety of spiritual backgrounds, atheists, Christians, Muslims, Jewish people etc, but do not reference mine or impose any spiritual agenda with my clients. In short, we only talk about it if it's important to you. My Masters Degree is in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy which enables me to skillfully work with individuals, couples, and adult family members. I view treatment as both of us collaboratively working toward your goals, utilizing your own insights and strengths as a basis for further development.

Treatment Approach
- Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
- Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
- Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
- Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
- Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.
- Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
- Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: I use an integrative approach that combines insight-oriented work with CBT and DBT-informed interventions. When I am first working with a person, I use CBT and mindfulness techniques to help reduce symptoms, then do deeper work (what kind?) as we go if that is warranted/desired. I see everything through a Family Systems lens which highlights the generational and systemic influences on our lives- we all were shaped and molded by family, friends and society and in turn impact others with our choices and behavior.

Our group practice currently consists of myself, my partner, 2 employees and one practicum intern/soon to be employee. I work with adults and specialize in LGBTQ+ clients, HIV and other chronic illness, Grief, Substance Abuse. My partner predominately works with sexual trauma and is a subject matter expert in that field. She also does supervision for MFT licensure and practicums/internships for therapists in training. Our employees focus on youth, couples, and families with a focus on Queer youth. We have a therapy dog in training, Elvira, who I sometimes bring with me. She is a basset hound and is a big lover. My clients who like dogs especially enjoy her. I take most insurances, my partner does a mixture of private pay and insurance, and everyone else is private pay as well as taking Aetna. If anyone contacts me, I may suggest one of them if they might be a better fit because the client is a child for example. Typically, I am rarely completely full and can get clients in within a week.
