Treatment Approach

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
Approach Description: My therapeutic approach is grounded in the understanding that many of the challenges people face are rooted in unresolved or unprocessed experiences that continue to live in the nervous system, not just in conscious thought. Because of this, my work goes beyond traditional talk therapy and focuses on modalities that facilitate deeper, experiential change. I primarily integrate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and the Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM), both of which are designed to access and process trauma at its source. EMDR helps the brain reprocess distressing experiences so they no longer carry the same emotional intensity or behavioral impact. CRM is particularly effective for complex and developmental trauma, as it emphasizes building internal resources and working in a way that does not overwhelm the system. Together, these approaches allow us to move at a pace that is both effective and respectful of your capacity. In addition to trauma processing, I incorporate a strong focus on nervous system regulation and attachment dynamics. Many clients I work with identify as highly independent, avoidant, or emotionally guarded. Rather than pushing for immediate vulnerability, I focus on helping you build the internal stability and safety needed for deeper work to emerge naturally. My style is collaborative, direct, and attuned. I tailor each session to the individual, integrating structured modalities with a responsive, relational approach. This means we are not only working to process past experiences, but also actively reshaping how you relate to yourself, your emotions, and your relationships in the present. Clients often come to me feeling stuck in patterns they intellectually understand but cannot seem to change. Through a combination of EMDR, CRM, and somatic and relational work, we move beyond insight into meaningful, lasting transformation.

Cindy Lee Collins Practice Description
I view therapy as both a clinical process and a meaningful human relationship. Many of the challenges people face are rooted in patterns that once served a purpose but no longer fit. My approach focuses on understanding and transforming those patterns rather than simply managing symptoms. My style is collaborative, direct, and attuned. I integrate evidence-based approaches with a focus on trauma, attachment, and nervous system regulation. I have a particular interest in working with individuals who feel stuck, disconnected, or highly defended, and I respect the pace required to build safety and trust in the process. Together, we move beyond insight into lasting change, helping you develop a different relationship with yourself, your emotions, and your relationships.
