Courage and Grit Counseling
Counselor/Therapist, No Frills. No Bullshit. Real Therapy.

No Frills. No Bullshit. Just Jesse.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. What does that mean, Jesse? Well, it does not necessarily mean the obvious. I am a systems-trained therapist, which means that when I work with my clients I look at the overall system that they are operating in. In our work together, clients can expect to take a deep dive into their family of origin and upbringing. We will get curious about patterns that repeat in your family and how to break patterns of generational trauma. We will talk about attachment wounds and do our best to heal the deep rooted pain. We will also take a look at your life currently and explore together what healing looks like for you.

Approach Description: I work well with clients who are not afraid of vulnerability. My core values are integrity, authenticity, and humor. I do not sugarcoat but have a graceful and honest approach. Humor and grace occupy my therapy space often, without the two progress could be difficult.
I am a trauma-informed and vulnerability-based therapist. What does that mean? You can expect our therapy space to be filled with acceptance, safety, compassion, and grace. The therapy I provide includes an eclectic mix of approaches. I find myself using practices and principles from multiple arenas. I typically lean towards a blend of emotion-focused approaches with integration of Somatic practices and IFS Part's theory. Additionally, I am trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). It is my mission to provide care and consultation that is tailored for those in these roles. Often, those in the caring, responding, and healing professions neglect their own needs which likely results in capacity overload and compassion fatigue.
The Why? I have worked in the Mental Health Arena for many years. It is abundantly clear that those in the compassionate care field are the last to be compassionately cared for. Healers, responders, caregivers, peacekeepers, protectors and leaders often put their needs last which results in neglect of healing and impacts all realms of life. Mental wellness is a key component of life satisfaction and everyone deserves a life with joy.

We are the authors of our lives, and often the trouble starts when we only believe we are the characters in our own stories. Denying our stories is as painful as denying ourselves, when we can accept self-compassion and grace; often we are able to move forward in our “stories”.
Healing begins with connection. Connection looks like the energy that occurs when one feels completely seen, heard, valued and validated. With true connection, one can be vulnerable and begin to heal. To quote the great Brené Brown: “Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.”
My therapy jam includes: Life Transitions, Anxiety and Depression, Emotional Intelligence, Highly Sensitive People, Men’s Mental Health, Trauma and Addiction, Generational Trauma, Compassion Fatigue, First Responders, Healers and Professionals.
