Choosing a therapist is a highly subjective experience. Although education, good training and a comfortable environment all are important factors in the therapeutic experience, the most important quality to look for in a therapist is whether you feel that you can develop a trusting, open communication with them. Therapy ultimately is a relationship between you and your therapist. It is a different relationship than any other relationships you have in your life as it is bound by professional ethics, theory and it is not an equal give and take relationship. As a therapist, it is my job to help you create an environment that feels safe, supportive, and conducive to your self growth and insight. It is not my job to judge you, direct you, or impose my opinions onto your life. We work together to create a place for you in which you can discover what it is that you really need, want and feel outside of other's opinions and influences. It is my job to help you to strengthen your inner voice and the self awareness that allows you to find the answers to your own questions.
