Hi! I am a clinical psychologist (PhD) trained at Penn State and the University of Pennsylvania. Though I treat a number of conditions (e.g., anxiety, depression, trauma), I have a great deal of experience helping people with personality disorders, sleep disorders, rare/unusual psychological conditions, and clinical problems which have been formerly resistant to treatment. Along with my practice, I stay active in the field through research, publications (i.e., books and articles), and other professional work. I particularly enjoy living lectures for popular science organizations in the US and abroad. Please visit my website (linked below) for more information.

Treatment Approach
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
- Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
- Object Relations Therapy Focuses on how early caregiver relationships shape current relationships. It aims to improve patterns of attachment and trust.
- Psychoanalytic Therapy Based on Freud’s theories, it explores unconscious conflicts and past experiences. It seeks to bring hidden issues into awareness.
- Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
Approach Description: I have been trained in (and published on) several contemporary forms of psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral therapies. In addition, I have an interest in philosophically-informed and existential psychotherapy.

My private practice offers the services:
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY :
Though trained to work with a number of problems, I have specialized training in the treatment of personality disorders, sleep disorders, and more rare or unusual psychological conditions. I use several contemporary psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral approaches and have published on both modalities. I very much enjoy helping people get closer to where they would like to be in life, and therapy can be important parts of that process.
ASSESSMENT:
In order to treat conditions effectively, they must be accurately diagnosed. I conduct general diagnostic assessments as well as more specialized evaluations for the conditions mentioned above. I have also served as the diagnostic trainer and supervisor of other therapists for several NIH-funded clinical trials and research studies. Please note that I do not conduct assessments for ADHD or autistic-spectrum disorders.
CLINICAL SUPERVISION:
A good portion of my practice is devoted to supervising the clinical work of psychologists and other therapists. I provide ongoing supervision as well as briefer consultations for complex cases
EXPERT WITNESS TESTIMONY:
I occasionally serve as an expert witness in court proceedings. However, this only occurs in cases which overlap with my research interests.
WORKSHOPS AND LECTURES:
Please contact me for information on the workshops and lectures that I typically provide.
NOTE: I do not do couple's or family therapy and will not schedule appointments intended for other people (e.g., spouses, family members). All potential patients must contact me directly.
