Treatment Approach

  • Adlerian Therapy Focuses on understanding a person’s sense of belonging and purpose. It helps people overcome feelings of inferiority and create healthier relationships.
  • Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
  • Christian Counseling Blends psychological practices with Christian values and scripture. It provides faith-based support for life challenges and spiritual growth.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Eclectic Therapy Draws from different therapeutic methods based on what fits each client best. It is flexible and personalized rather than following one single model.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Experiential Therapy Involves hands-on activities to bring emotions into the present moment. It helps clients process feelings more deeply than through conversation alone.
  • Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
  • Gestalt Therapy Encourages awareness of thoughts, feelings, and actions in the present moment. It helps people integrate different parts of themselves for wholeness.
  • Jungian Therapy Draws on Carl Jung’s ideas about archetypes, dreams, and the collective unconscious. It helps people explore deeper layers of meaning.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: Although cognitive Behavioral therapy is the primary methodology; I use an eclectic psychotherapy approach to meet my clients' specific needs.

Therapy Sessions Gail Eaves Practice Description
Although cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) is the primary modality that I focus on, I use an eclectic psychotherapy approach to meet my clients’ individual need. To illustrate, I provide clients with CBT tools to deal with events of everyday living and explore critical issues using an approach that is appropriate to meet the client-specific problems. The CBT approach has many advantages in multicultural counseling situations. Thus, if therapists understand the core value of their culturally diverse clients, they can help clients explore these values and gain a full awareness of their conflicting feelings. As a therapist with a cognitive-behavioral orientation, I educate clients to focus on learning skills to deal with the problems of living. The client and I will work together to develop a detailed case conceptualization to understand how each client views their world. While being sensitive to each client's struggle, I explore values and core beliefs in a nonjudgmental environment with empathy to help clients to learn how to empower themselves by relying on their inner strength. Moreover, my office hours are flexible and unique. I am available on the weekends including Sundays and late evenings on the weekdays. My office is handicapped accessible and offers a private entrance. The waiting area is comfortable and offers a warm environment with upscale furniture. During the first visit, the client can expect an initial assessment where the therapist and the client will both learn about each other expectations.
