Approach Description: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) is highly recommended as a treatment for trauma and PTSD. However, it can be an effective treatment for several other mental health challenges as well. EMDR is an 8 phase, comprehensive and client-oriented psychotherapy. It concerns how our past experiences impacts our functioning, and aims to change maladaptive patterns. EMDR considers elements of the past, present and future, and our thoughts, beliefs and bodily sensations. It is a gentle and flexible approach that easily can be tailored to fit the needs accross a variety of challenges and populations.
