Jamie Reed Practice Description
Hello there! Welcome. As my favorite Peloton instructor would say, “The hardest part is check done.” While that may not be 100% true depending on the circumstance, you still made a courageous choice. You took the first step in your healing journey, which I imagine took a lot of thought and deliberation. We are often conditioned to handle problems on our own, and there is this incorrect assumption that it is a sign of some negative personal attribute if we reach out for help. It takes considerable strength and insight to recognize our limitations and to admit we might need some support. I’m grateful you came across my page. I have a wide range of experience, working in residential treatment centers, schools, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, prisons, and have significant experience working with veterans in both an inpatient and outpatient setting. I work with clients across the lifespan, as a great deal of my graduate training was with children, adolescents, and families. I have been trained in several approaches to treat a variety of concerns, but I most enjoy working with trauma and PTSD. Additionally, I have specialized training in working with those who struggle with emotion regulation, distress tolerance, as well as those who engage in self-harm behaviors. In therapy sessions, I strive to create a warm, welcoming, and safe environment, which I believe is a prerequisite for healing. I see the therapeutic relationship as a partnership, as you are the expert of yourself (whether you believe that yet or not)! My role is to facilitate deeper insight and the lessening of suffering or discomfort. From there, we will create an individualized plan of care. I tend to draw from several theories and therapies in my work with clients, but my core foundation is client-centered, which values unconditional positive regard, genuineness, and empathetic understanding. I welcome feedback on the process as we go along, so that we can adjust to best meet your needs. When I’m not in therapy sessions, I enjoy working out, reading, playing video games, binge-watching television shows, going to concerts, traveling, spending time with friends, and snuggling up with my feline fur-children: Willow, Simba, Miles, and Sweetie. I look forward to working with you.
