Reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step, especially when you aren't sure where to begin. I believe seeking support is an act of courage, and that meaningful change begins with feeling heard, understood, and accepted. I strive to create a therapeutic space where you can show up as you are, explore your experiences without judgment, and feel supported as you work toward meaningful change. I believe each person brings unique strengths, experiences, relationships, and perspectives that are important to understand when working toward greater well-being. My background includes providing mental health services to college students, teaching college-level courses, and researching hope and well-being. These experiences have shaped my interest in supporting students and young adults as they navigate personal growth, transitions, relationships, academic pressures, and questions about what comes next. I have also completed the class-time requirements for Basic EMDR and training in trauma-informed practice. Above all, I hope to offer a genuine and supportive therapeutic relationship where you feel respected, empowered, and encouraged to move toward a life that feels meaningful and fulfilling.

Treatment Approach

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
Approach Description: My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, strengths-based, and informed by Positive Psychotherapy, Hope Theory, and trauma-informed care. I believe therapy is most effective when it is built around your individual experiences, strengths, values, and goals rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. I view you as an active participant in the therapeutic process and believe you are the expert on your own life. Together, we can explore patterns that may be affecting your well-being, identify strengths and resources you may already have, and develop practical pathways toward the changes you want to make. Hope is an important part of my work. My clinical and research experiences have deepened my appreciation for the ways that hope, meaningful goals, and a sense of possibility can contribute to well-being. Rather than focusing only on what is difficult, we can also explore what is meaningful to you, what is already working, and what steps may help you move forward. I also incorporate a trauma-informed perspective, recognizing the importance of safety, trust, choice, collaboration, and empowerment in the therapeutic relationship. I have completed the class-time requirements for Basic EMDR and have completed Core Components and Skills for Trauma-Informed Practice through the National Initiative for Trauma Education and Workforce Development. Ultimately, my goal is to meet you where you are, understand what matters to you, and walk alongside you as you develop greater self-understanding, build on your strengths, and create meaningful change.

Jason Featherngill Practice Description
I work with individuals who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, uncertain, or simply ready for something to change. I have a particular interest in working with college students and young adults who are navigating the unique challenges that can come with education, emerging adulthood, relationships, and major life transitions. I may be able to support you with: • Academic and performance-related stress • Life transitions and adjustment • Relationship and interpersonal concerns • Stress and feeling overwhelmed • Personal growth and self-understanding • Building hope and identifying meaningful goals • Difficult or challenging life experiences • Navigating changes in identity, direction, or relationships My goal is to provide a space where you can slow down, make sense of what you're experiencing, and explore what you want your life to look like. You don't need to have everything figured out before beginning therapy. We can start with where you are and work together to determine what support would be most helpful. Whether you're facing a specific concern or simply know that something needs to change, therapy can provide an opportunity to gain perspective, develop new skills, recognize your strengths, and move forward with greater clarity and hope.
