We have the answers to life's questions within ourselves, and together we can start to tap into those answers. When hard things happen, it makes it difficult to trust those answers and easy to second-guess yourself. By resolving past traumas, which can be one-time or multiple events, it makes the path forward feel more clear. To help make sense of the difficult, challenging, and horrible things that happen to people, I specialize in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), with additional training in healing attachment wounds, complex PTSD, perinatal trauma, postpartum mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), and depression.

Treatment Approach

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
Approach Description: EMDR is a model that has been around since the 1980s and is evidence based. It works by using bilateral stimulation (BLS) to get your left brain to connect and communicate with your right brain to integrate traumatic events into the broader narrative of your life, rather than fragmented pieces that can be triggered without warning. In the process of integrating these memories, underlying negative beliefs about yourself are identified and ultimately challenged and changed to something that feels better and more true to yourself. The memory will not be erased, but the pain of it is reduced and how you feel about yourself as the person who endured that event can change for the better.
