You may know something needs to change but feel unsure where to begin. I work with adults, couples, and families navigating relationship challenges, ADHD, anxiety, family conflict, parenting stress, and major life transitions. My approach is compassionate and direct, we’ll look honestly at what isn’t working, understand what is getting in the way, and develop practical ways to move forward. Therapy should be more than a place to talk; it should help you create change you can feel in your relationships and everyday life.

Treatment Approach

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
  • Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
  • Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
  • Relational Psychotherapy Emphasizes the healing power of the therapist-client relationship. It uses trust and safety as a foundation for change.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: My approach is collaborative, practical, and direct; creating a space to understand what is happening beneath the immediate concern while helping clients identify concrete ways to move forward. Rather than using the same approach with everyone, I tailor therapy to each client’s needs, goals, relationships, and experiences. My work draws from relationship-focused, behavioral, and family systems approaches to help individuals, couples, and families better understand how they respond to challenges, strengthen communication and connection, and develop healthier ways of navigating difficult situations.

Kody Evans Practice Description
As the Founder and Clinical Director of Marriage.Family.Therapy, I work with adults, couples, and families who want to better understand what is happening in their relationships, address challenges that have become difficult to manage on their own, and make thoughtful changes in their lives. A significant part of my work is with couples experiencing recurring conflict, communication breakdowns, emotional disconnection, trust concerns, parenting stress, ADHD and neurodivergence within relationships, premarital concerns, and uncertainty about the future of their relationship. I help couples slow down the cycles they have become caught in, better understand what is happening beneath their interactions, and develop healthier ways of communicating and responding to one another. In my individual work, I support adults navigating ADHD, anxiety, depression, work and career stress, parenting, relationship concerns, life transitions, and personal growth. Some clients come to therapy with a specific issue they want to address, while others are looking for greater clarity about themselves, their relationships, or the direction they want their lives to take. I also provide family therapy for families experiencing conflict, changing roles, parenting challenges, major transitions, or emotional disconnection. Rather than viewing one family member as the problem, I look at how relationships and interactions within the family may be contributing to the difficulties they are experiencing and where healthier patterns can begin to develop. My therapeutic style is compassionate, collaborative, and direct. I believe clients should have room to explore their experiences while also gaining useful insight and practical ways to approach challenges differently. My work draws from the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and family systems approaches. I offer both in-person therapy in Woodinville and virtual therapy throughout Washington. To learn more, visit my full bio at: https://www.mft.care/kody-evans-bio
