Treatment Approach
- Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
- Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
- Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: A narrative therapy framework guides my work. Together, we explore the stories that have shaped your experiences, identifying the social, cultural, and relational influences that may have limited how you see yourself or your choices. Through curiosity, compassion, and collaboration, we work to uncover alternative stories that highlight your strengths, values, and resilience. This process supports new ways of understanding your experiences and creating more empowering paths forward in your relationships and life.

Tough Stuff Counselling, owned and operated by Krista Hull, is a non-judgmental, feminist, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, 2SLGBTQ-affirmative, and sex-positive online psychotherapy office based in Hamilton, Ontario. I take an eclectic approach to therapy that is narrative-based and client-centered, grounded in empathy, self-compassion, and humour. Collaboration is highly valued, with an emphasis on developing a strong therapeutic relationship where we work together to create a plan that reflects your unique experiences, cultural traditions, and strengths.
Creativity is also woven into the practice of psychotherapy and is informed by past training in the arts and a strong research background. I specialize in working with individuals and couples who are in conflict with a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, intergenerational trauma, relational conflict, romantic and peer relationships, life transitions, and gender/sexual identity concerns.
