My training (Yale University Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology; four-year postdoctoral Certificate in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy) is broad and varied. I currently practice individual therapy and group therapy, both online. My approach to working with you will depend to a great degree on what you are seeking. Some people benefit from brief treatment; others seek and benefit from a deeper and longer exploration. I believe the combination of individual and group therapy can be particularly beneficial for many people. My work is guided as much by my own years of personal therapy and psychoanalysis as by my formal education.

Treatment Approach
- Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
- Experiential Therapy Involves hands-on activities to bring emotions into the present moment. It helps clients process feelings more deeply than through conversation alone.
- Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
- Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) A short-term approach focused on improving relationships and social support. It is often used for depression and grief.
- Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.
- Object Relations Therapy Focuses on how early caregiver relationships shape current relationships. It aims to improve patterns of attachment and trust.
- Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
- Psychoanalytic Therapy Based on Freud’s theories, it explores unconscious conflicts and past experiences. It seeks to bring hidden issues into awareness.
- Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
- Relational Psychotherapy Emphasizes the healing power of the therapist-client relationship. It uses trust and safety as a foundation for change.
- Self Psychology Explores the development of self-esteem and identity. It emphasizes the importance of empathy in healing.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.

I received my B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley. My Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology is from Yale University (1974). I have a postdoctoral Certificate in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy from the Westchester Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy (1993). Psychotherapy speaks the language of emotions. All of us struggle with painful feelings: fear and insecurity, sadness and grief, shame and guilt, conflict and confusion. All of us suffer from traumatic experiences, large or small. I try to listen attentively and non-judgmentally to your feelings, thoughts, and experiences. Together we work to increase your self-understanding, understanding of others, and personal growth.
People enter psychotherapy with mixed emotions of hope and doubt. I try to provide a warm, responsive environment conducive to honest, authentic communication. My work is guided as much by my own years of personal therapy and psychoanalysis as by my formal education.
How much you benefit from psychotherapy depends a great deal on the patient-therapist match. We will try to determine early-on if we are a good match for working together.
