I am a Certified Psychoanalyst, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and NYS CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Counselor). I am an excellent listener, traveling with many on rugged terrains who have resisted professional help. I have the ability to stay with most people on their journey. I love a good challenge.
I have a private practice with young and older adults (men and women) struggling with major change in their lives; e.g., losses, health, love and career issues. I help individuals go through their transitions with less angst and integrated adjustment, thereby assisting them with a smooth change.
A second arm of my practice is doing second opinions in mental health. Many have had "no therapy," "poor therapy" or "ineffective therapy." Consult with a highly experienced clinician for a "second opinion." If you have an incorrect assessment, you cannot help the consumer.
A third arm of my private practice is working with LCSWs and other professionals who have been invested in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and find he/she has not, as yet, been able to work for “oneself.†For those who need to explore issues that are stumbling blocks for full-time private practice, I am available to set up a series of private meetings. The major benefit of my work is two-fold. (i) One is able to develop a niche for successful private practice based on one's history, passion and interest; (ii) The work is depth-oriented and is not a "how to." Two of my more recent clients have successfully been able to leave managed (“mangled") care and expand private practice opportunities. This is done within a psychoanalytic frame and there are no short-cuts. I am respectful of boundary issues for those individuals who are presently working in “therapy."
