“You can have the other words-chance, luck, coincidence, serendipity. I'll take grace. I don't know what it is exactly, but I'll take it. ” ― Mary Oliver, poet. —————— As we react, adapt and adjust to the multitude of changes taking place in our lives in the face of ambiguity in our world, you might find yourself experiencing heightened emotions, and yearning for clarity. Perhaps you are searching for a sense of peace, a new way of ‘being’ in the world that cultivates emotional balance within yourself and in your relationships. Your inner turmoil might feel overwhelming. Know that this is not yours forever, unless you choose to keep it. The peace and clarity you seek is within your reach.

Treatment Approach

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Eclectic Therapy Draws from different therapeutic methods based on what fits each client best. It is flexible and personalized rather than following one single model.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
  • Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Relational Psychotherapy Emphasizes the healing power of the therapist-client relationship. It uses trust and safety as a foundation for change.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: My approach is a combination of clinical knowledge, clinical skills and experience, and a deep sense of trust in each client’s innate strength and inner wisdom. The process of unearthing blocked emotions is fluid and organic, and I provide a safe ‘container’ for the emotions that might feel overwhelming. Client’s become aware of, and separate from their negative thoughts and emotions instead of living in and being their thoughts and emotions.

Nenette Keenan Practice Description
As a licensed therapist, I work with individual adults and families to address an array of presenting issues, Examples of these are, yet not not limited to: problems in relationships, chronic pain/medical issues, poor self image, anxiety, the presence and/or memory of traumatic events such as abuse, neglect, or an unexpected tragedy or loss. Other examples might include an inability to make decisions, perfectionism, stress related to employment or lack there of, and fear-based thinking. Throughout therapy, we’ll focus on emotional disturbances, negative self-talk, and problematic relationships, within the context of yourself, your family, and community based systems. Through this process, an awareness of what hinders emotional balance emerges, as does an increase in self-love. Negative patterns in relationships, and with oneself, are revealed and released to create room for positive changes. Trust, emotional safety, and non-judgement are the heart of my practice, as all are crucial for your success in therapy. In an open and relaxed environment, I collaborate with you to create goals for therapy via an adaptable, ‘therapy map,’ for us to reference during your journey. It is uniquely tailored (and amended as needed) to align with your personality and your unique vision of peace within yourself and in your relationships. I blend Eco-Systemic and Internal Family Systems (IFS) approaches, which means that I emphasize and encourage awareness of your relationship with yourself, and with immediate family, within a larger social context. The therapeutic blueprint for your ‘therapy map’ is then created. Depending upon your personality, circumstances and learning style, I apply techniques from varying evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Somatic Expression, Mindfulness, Structural Family Therapy, Art Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and EMDR.
