Shaelyn Cataldo (She/Her)
Counselor/Therapist, LMHC, PMH-C, EMDRIA Certified Therapist™
I believe our symptoms and struggles often make sense when we understand what we have lived through. Anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, emotional overwhelm, and relationship patterns may have developed as ways of adapting, protecting ourselves, or staying connected. My role is to help you understand these patterns with curiosity and compassion rather than criticism.
I offer a warm, relational, honest, and sometimes direct therapeutic space. Together, we explore how past experiences, attachment wounds, and complex trauma may continue to shape your nervous system, relationships, and sense of self. Insight matters, but our work does not stop there. We also create opportunities to experience and respond to yourself differently.
As a Certified EMDR Therapist, I integrate attachment-focused EMDR, somatic therapy, IFS-informed parts work, and expressive approaches to support deeper, embodied change. The goal is not to become someone new, but to strengthen self-trust, reconnect with your needs and inner voice, and feel more at home in yourself.

Treatment Approach
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
- Art Therapy Uses creative activities like drawing, painting, or sculpture as a way to express emotions. It is especially helpful when words are hard to find.
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
- Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: My approach is warm, relational, and trauma-informed. I integrate EMDR, somatic therapy, attachment-based work, and mindfulness to help clients understand the patterns they developed to survive, reconnect with themselves, and create meaningful, lasting change.

You Matter Holistic Healing, LLC is a Rhode Island-based private practice offering in-person therapy in Cranston and North Kingstown, as well as virtual therapy throughout the state.
I specialize in working with thoughtful, self-aware adults navigating complex trauma, anxiety, attachment wounds, emotional neglect, perfectionism, people-pleasing, grief, and complicated family and relationship dynamics. I also specialize in perinatal mental health, supporting individuals through pregnancy, postpartum, loss, motherhood, identity shifts, and the emotional and relational changes that can accompany these experiences.
Many of the people I work with are cycle breakers, highly sensitive individuals, and adults who have spent years caring for others, anticipating others’ needs, or holding everything together while becoming disconnected from themselves. My approach is warm, relational, and somatic, integrating attachment-focused EMDR, parts work, and expressive approaches to support healing that goes beyond insight.
You Matter Holistic Healing is a space to understand the patterns that helped you adapt and survive, reconnect with your needs and inner voice, strengthen self-trust, and create new ways of relating to yourself and others.
