Taking the step to begin therapy is an act of profound courage, and I deeply respect the vulnerability it requires. I want you to know that the space we create together will be a sanctuary—one defined by unwavering trust, safety, and non-judgment. My intention is for you to feel truly seen and heard from our very first interaction. I am motivated by the desire to support clients through personal reflection and insight; to empower clients as they walk through their life journey. I am passionate about creating a strong connection to support the therapeutic alliance needed to achieve healing, growth, or, any other therapeutic goal. With 15+ years of experience, I am skilled in working with individuals, couples, young adults, veterans, and the first responder community. Shele has worked in all treatment levels, and currently private practice. She enjoys all areas of mental health and specializes in treating PTSD/trauma, resiliency training, couples counseling, and eating disorders.

Treatment Approach

  • Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
  • Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) A short-term approach focused on improving relationships and social support. It is often used for depression and grief.

Shele Lillis Practice Description
I work with clients who may be struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, or even a combination of issues. During our initial sessions, we will delve into the issues at hand, both past and present, and collaborate to create a plan to address them in a way that is specific to you and your style of processing. I utilizes research-based, therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, among other techniques, to help facilitate change and growth. It is Shele's belief there is no single approach that meets the needs of all clients, therefore getting to know you and what brought to therapy is the first step.
