Psychologist, Psy.D.
 therapist: Sophie Pierce,

Whether you're adjusting to life with a new baby, wondering if your young child is on track developmentally, worried about your child's anxiety, navigating a difficult transition, or feeling stuck in patterns with your teen, you don't have to figure it out alone. I believe that behavior always has meaning. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, I work to understand the experiences, relationships, and developmental needs that may be shaping them. Together, we'll build on your family's strengths while helping your child or teen develop the confidence and skills they need to thrive. I specialize in working with infants and young children, children, and parents. My approach is grounded in attachment, developmental science, and play therapy, creating a space where children feel safe enough to express themselves and parents feel supported rather than judged. I also have specialized training in infant mental health and enjoy working with families during pregnancy, infancy, and the early years to strengthen the parent-child relationship, support healthy development, and address concerns before they become bigger challenges. My goal is for every family to leave therapy with a deeper understanding of themselves and one another, along with practical tools and renewed hope for the future.

Client Focus

Session Format: Family, Individual sessions.
Age Specialty: Children

Treatment Approach

  • Neuropsychology Examines how brain function affects thinking, memory, and behavior. It often involves assessment and rehabilitation strategies.
  • Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) Helps parents strengthen their bond with their child while learning effective strategies to manage challenging behaviors. Through live coaching, parents practice positive communication, set clear boundaries, and build a more supportive, nurturing home environment.
  • Play Therapy Uses toys, games, and creative play to help children express emotions. It is especially useful when children can’t fully verbalize their feelings.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
  • Relational Psychotherapy Emphasizes the healing power of the therapist-client relationship. It uses trust and safety as a foundation for change.
Approach Description: My approach is individualized and draws from play therapy, attachment-based interventions, developmental psychology, trauma-informed care, interpersonal neurobiology, and evidence-based treatments. Above all, I believe therapy should feel like a place where you and your family are genuinely known, supported, and empowered to move toward meaningful change.

Sophie Pierce Practice Details

Therapy Sessions Sophie Pierce Practice Description
My work is grounded in attachment, developmental science, and the belief that behavior is a form of communication. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, I seek to understand the underlying experiences, relationships, and developmental factors that shape how children and families are coping. Together, we'll identify strengths, build resilience, and develop practical strategies that support lasting change. I have specialized training in infant and early childhood mental health and enjoy working with families during pregnancy, the postpartum period, infancy, and the preschool years. Early relationships provide the foundation for lifelong emotional health, and I love partnering with parents to strengthen connection, support development, and navigate concerns before they become more entrenched. I also provide therapy for school-age children, adolescents, and young adults experiencing anxiety, trauma, life transitions, emotional or behavioral challenges, and relationship difficulties.
