Wendy Hooker Practice Description
My expertise is in assisting clients to adjust and navigate the dynamics of family life, and the maze of lifestyle decisions. Social and family issues can contribute to stress and anxiety which can be exhausting. Counseling with Interventions aimed to increase one’s Emotional Intelligence while incorporating the Positive Psychology approach will minimize unhealthy thinking and behavior, and develop a more optimistic attitude that will enhance, rather than disrupt one’s life. As a therapist and counselor, I have used a variety of exercises or strategies to help my clients identify their own positive traits and strengths thereby improving their ability to function in a productive matter. Although, life-altering events and everyday stressors affect us all, cognitive-behavioral, and solution-focused therapy techniques have been found to be useful and practical. Stress, anxiety, and depression among other distressing emotions are not uncommon; however, we all have a choice as to how our future is impacted. Now is the time to prioritize your happiness, joy, and peace. Additionally, my training as an interest-based mediator is congruent with how each person is provided wellness tools based on their core values. Correspondently, the goal of my practice includes increasing self-awareness and improving one’s ability to monitor personal wellness. This, in turn, improves self-esteem, self-reliance, and clarity which contributes to making desired changes and creating healthy boundaries. In closing, I understand how each member of a family is unique. This helps to renegotiate, and maneuver life’s challenges. Likewise, it is important to understand that events in life occur with or without warning but understanding the importance of resilience improves one’s ability to thrive. I am looking forward to working with you.
