Newport Beach, California therapist: Dr. Stefanie Tweedly, psychologist
Serving Military / Veterans

Dr. Stefanie Tweedly

Psychologist, Psy.D.
My goal is to help individuals move toward better being; to grow and be healthier. To this end, I assist individuals in improving their emotional well-being through warm, genuine, non-judgmental exploration of their experiences. In this exploration, I work with the individual in a collaborative process to guide them to heal their core wounds and struggles. This process not only helps improve current symptoms and distress, but also provides the individual with skills that help them navigate future challenges. In addition to using more traditional therapeutic interventions, I also incorporate a holistic approach; generally in considering all aspects of the individual, including mind, body, and spirit, and specifically in using interventions such as mindfulness, meditation, body awareness work, and yoga.

Valencia, California therapist: TREATMENT AND TOOLS FOR TRAUMA, licensed psychoanalyst
Serving Military / Veterans

TREATMENT AND TOOLS FOR TRAUMA

Licensed Psychoanalyst, PH.D., IN PSYCHOANALYSIS AND NEUROSCIENCE, CERTIFIED PSYCHOANALYST, PSY.A, & LICENSED PSYCHOANALYST
My background is in both psychoanalysis and neuroscience (doctorate) and I am also a Certified and Licensed Psychoanalyst. So I am able to bring both a background in research into mind/brain issues, and I am trained as a clinician. I have been working with trauma for many years, and most recently (2016) I have been working with traumatic brain injury patients (including professional athletes). I am grateful for my dual background in mind/brain, because all brain injured patients require both perspectives. In August of 2023 I published "The Complex Architecture and Healing of Traumatic Brain Injuries: Listening to The Brain" with Cambridge Scholars Publishing in the UK. This is the story (based on case histories) of the journey to find a "healing road" for all persons who have had serious disruptions in brain functioning. This is very, very challenging territory to work in. And in my experience, requires a great collaboration between doctor and patient. I am also the author of "Moon Over Seaville," the story of the hunt for a serial arsonist in Southern California (in 4 Episodes). Available everywhere under "Mystery/Thrillers." I have patients all across the country (via phone). Brain injuries can be healed!

Long Beach, California therapist: Luis Maimoni, marriage and family therapist
Serving Military / Veterans

Luis Maimoni

Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT
Hi. My name is Luis Maimoni. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist specializing in relationships of all kinds. No matter who you are, or where you're coming from, you are the one who will determine where your story begins. I'll meet you where you're at and focus on your strengths. We'll collaborate to find and treat the root cause of your presenting concerns. Underpinning my work is my belief in "tribe" (family and community). Tribes come in all kinds of shapes, sizes, colors, cultures, flavors and configurations (I was raised in a multilingual and multicultural home). Our tribes shape how we feel, how we think, how we relate to others, and how others relate to us (sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse, sometimes it's hard to know). I love this work and look forward to learning your story.

Life's journey is filled with unexpected twists and turns—stress, anxiety, depression, and moments of feeling utterly overwhelmed. Often, we find our way through these challenges on our own. Redondo Beach, California therapist: Charlie Taylor, therapist
Serving Military / Veterans

Charlie Taylor

Therapist, MHA, LCSW
Therapy with me is a safe place where you are allowed to be imperfect and explore your human side. You can share your story, relax, cry, laugh, and grow into the person you want to be. I know that you have the ability to thrive under the right circumstances and heal. So I focus on creating a compassionate environment for you to safely explore your thoughts and emotions. Once you experience unconditional positive regard, you’ll begin to outgrow the harsh inner critic and tap into your full potential. Similar to tidying up your home, we’ll work on your mental space. I’ll help you examine the beliefs and stories you hold about yourself so you can let go of those narratives that no longer serve you. This new space will make room for new energy and a renewed focus to support your well-being.

New York City, New York therapist: Dr. Stéphanie Gamache, PhD, hypnotherapist
Serving Military / Veterans

Dr. Stéphanie Gamache, PhD

Hypnotherapist, PhD
My work is rooted in a deep interest in how early relational and emotional experience shapes our capacity for self-regulation, connection, desire, and meaning throughout life. I am particularly interested in how people come to know what they need and want, how they learn to express or inhibit those impulses, and what happens when these capacities become conflicted, constricted, or difficult to sustain. Many of the individuals I work with are thoughtful, capable, and outwardly composed, yet internally experience anxiety, low mood, chronic tension or pain, self-criticism, or a sense that something essential is blocked, muted, or inaccessible. These struggles may show up in mood, behavior, the body, or in relationships-including sexuality and intimacy-but they are rarely limited to any one area. Rather, they reflect deeper emotional and relational patterns formed early in life, often before words, that continue to shape how a person approaches closeness, vulnerability, agency, pleasure, and self-expression. My work integrates psychoanalytic psychotherapy, hypnosis, somatic awareness, and clinical sexology within a reflective, depth-oriented process. Hypnosis is used as a central clinical tool to support deeper internal contact and to access emotional, bodily, and unconscious material that can be difficult to reach through conversation alone. I am interested not only in relieving symptoms-such as anxiety, depression, chronic pain, or behavioral patterns-but in helping people develop a more coherent and compassionate relationship with their inner life: their sensations, emotions, impulses, and desires. This work is oriented toward lasting psychological change and greater freedom in how one relates to oneself, one’s body, and one’s capacity for connection, authenticity, and vitality.
