I have intimate experience working with law enforcement, military and other first responders and victims of abuse and/or assaults. Let me help your to learn to relieve symptoms of trauma related mental health issues.
Are you feeling overwhelmed or believe that your past trauma is dictating your life? If so, I understand your suffering. I'll help you to reduce your fear & "get out of your mind's prison" by teaching you skills that are effective & guide you in learning to love yourself exactly as your are.
Traumatic experiences including the exposure to domestic violence, crime and natural disasters can lead to individuals developing PTSD. Trauma-focused therapy can help you heal from the trauma, regain a sense of control over your life and help improve your symptoms by developing coping skills to manage your symptoms, help you develop healthy thoughts about yourself, others and the world, and treat other problems often related to traumatic experiences such as depression, anxiety, and fears.
I’m a trained EMDR therapist through the organization of EMDRIA. I offer therapy for most population groups and most issues. I am also trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as the basics of Critical Incident Stress Management. I enjoy working with first responders and veterans.
Trauma is like a infected wound that sometimes the surface layer has healed, but the damage is still continuing within. An unhealed wound can often be reopened by different triggers, and the symptoms and patterns repeat again. As your therapist, my role is guide and help you affectively "clean" and "treat" the wound, so that it can stop the damage and heal properly.
Trauma impacts how we view ourselves and the world around us. It can alter our sense of safety in relationships. My relational and non-judgmental approach to therapy is aimed to help you understand how trauma has affected you, provide comfort and healing, work through your current difficulties and move forward in your life that feels safe and fulfilling.
I specialize in treating trauma and PTSD with a compassionate, evidence-based approach. Utilizing therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma-Focused CBT, I help you process and heal from traumatic experiences. My focus is on providing a safe space to explore your feelings, develop coping strategies, and build resilience. Together, we work to reduce symptoms, reclaim your sense of control, and support your journey toward recovery and emotional well-being.
I like to use a strengths-based and trauma-centered approach to therapy. I think it is important to find balance in your life and it starts with improving coping skills, building trauma related skills and good self-care. I like a person-centered approach meaning you are in charge, we go at your speed and things should always be comfortable for you during therapy. I primarily use EMDR and mindfulness when treating trauma and PTSD.
