I was diagnosed with ADHD AFTER I was married AND working in the therapeutic field. I was shocked to realize that what I had thought was anxiety was actually internalized ADHD. Starting a stimulant medication gave me new clarity and a sense of focus I had never experienced before. I am now able to implement mindful strategies such as deep breathing, times of silence and stillness, yoga, positive affirmations and moving and exercising my body which all help to restore my mind/body connection and allow me to be fully present in the HERE and NOW. I am also aware of how my physical environment and daily structure and routine greatly impact me and am able to intentionally cultivate those to my greatest benefit. It has also helped tremendously in my understanding of my relationship with my partner.
