Indianapolis, Indiana therapist: Andrea Barbour, marriage and family therapist
Self Psychology

Andrea Barbour

Marriage and Family Therapist, MA, LMFT, PhD(ABD)
The heart of my clinical focus is on meeting you where you are, creating ways to understand and communicate your human experience in ways that feel authentic to you. I have extensive experience in working with long standing emotional distress, this includes complex trauma and mood disorders as well as dissociative, personality and psychosis related disorders. I integrate my training in neuropsychoanalysis, psychoanalytic psychotherapy and my training as a marriage and family therapist to provide evidence based care. My aim is to help you find good care. So if we meet and it doesn't feel like a good fit, I will work with you to help you get connected to providers that will bring you the most benefit.

Self Psychology

Dr. Sarah Pouliot

Psychologist, PhD, LP
Psychotherapy is most effective when two people (therapist and client) work together to develop a type of therapeutic relationship that not only seeks to make sense of unfolding dynamics but also provides a safe place from which to explore both the known and unknown. In other words, psychotherapy or counseling should offer a meaningful experience, offering new ways of being, relating, and experiencing. Lasting change becomes possible when we are able to find and apply new ways of thinking and feeling about ourselves and others - new ways of relating or responding to the world in which we live and engage.

I appreciate that it can be challenging to find a therapist. I encourage you to shop around, read profiles, visit websites, and have initial sessions with a couple of providers to find someone who you can really talk to and be open with. We all have different styles and vibes and ways of talking and that's a good thing, hopefully we're all well trained as well but I encourage you to inquire if our training and credentials are confusing or not obvious. In therapy I will be someone who challenges you. I might interrupt you at times if your thinking seems off. I will encourage you to feel and exercise and be honest with yourself and the people you love. Therapy will be challenging. Hopefully you will be thoughtful about the process and interested in making changes. I'm here to help you become the person who you want to be and love the person who you are.
