MJB Wellness LLC

Hypnotherapist, Certified Hypnotherapist and Coach, Certified Sexological Bodyworker, Sex Educator, Certified Reiki
I had one client early in my practice who came to me for one issue but after talking it appeared that the real issue was tremendous anger that had been building for decades and was affecting every aspect of her life, weighing her down. We did 2 sessions around that and she was so completely relieved of her anger, so lightened, that she was amazed.

Cognitive behavioral therapy can be effective in working with anger, along with identifying triggers and healthy coping skills. The cause for anger can vary and there are so many different reasons people express anger or struggle to manage it. Sometimes, there may be other underlying emotions fueling that anger. I have led group therapy sessions on anger management and other emotions.

Seattle, Washington therapist: Aaron Kapin, somatic experiencing practitioner
Anger Management

Aaron Kapin

Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, SEP, LMT
While there are often mental components to anger you'll want to address with a talk therapist, there's also a physical component that we can work on using somatic approaches: Out of control anger is often your nervous system's "fight" response kicking in so intensely that it's hard to keep your cool. Anger serves an important purpose, but we want to know that we can still stay connected to our best selves even while we are angry. We can use body-focused techniques to be able to recognize when anger is about to kick in, and to teach your body new ways of responding to that anger. For example, you may find yourself saying to me "I noticed I was getting hot and agitated, so I excused myself for a couple minutes." You may find yourself able to focus your energy much more quickly than you used to, to come back focused and goal oriented. You may still feel 'mad' but it may be anger that is working for you, in alignment with your values.
