Washington Psychological Wellness
Counselor/Therapist
Anger is a normal, healthy emotion that can be used to communicate important boundaries and needs. Anger becomes unhealthy when it reaches a level of an out-of-control and all-consuming rage. Maladaptive anger can have a lasting detrimental impact on one’s relationships, work, and overall mental well-being. At Washington Psychological Wellness, our therapists work to help you understand the core mechanisms of your anger. Often, anger is a manifestation of a repressed feeling, such as deep sadness or shame. Your therapist will provide you the safe space needed to process, explore, and work through your anger to eventually replace learned maladaptive emotional dysregulation patterns with more adaptive ways of communicating. We aim to teach emotional regulation and adaptive communication patterns. Washington Psychological Wellness is currently accepting new clients. Telehealth (online) therapy services are available. Connie Wolf
Licensed Professional Counselor, MA in Counseling, LCPC, LIMHP, LMHC
Anger is a difficult emotion to experience, often complex and conflicting. My goal in helping clients that are wanting to address their anger, involves a comprehensive approach. Anger serves a function and our response can be changed by becoming aware of our beliefs about anger. Understanding how are body responds to threats internal or external is also important. Beyond an awareness, I help clients to identify and change cognitive beliefs and other aspects of their life, to reduce or eliminate unhelpful behaviors that they utilized in the past.

Beth Janis
Psychologist, Ph.D.
Anger can be a difficult emotion for many people - you may have received messages throughout your life about what is or isn't "okay" to feel, or you may feel at a loss of how to navigate the strong waves of anger when it hits. We work on understanding the role and function of anger, while working to reshape any messages that may be keeping you stuck. Building comfort and flexibility with anger is all about building our awareness of our cues; reshaping our relationship with anger; growing our regulation skills; and practicing how we can let our anger inform how we choose to respond, rather than being driven by the anger itself.
