Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor
I know how hard it is to find a counselor. You're about to go talk to someone about your pain or fears which makes you feel vulnerable. My first priority is to create a safe place for you. The most common feedback I get is, "you're so easy to talk to"
From there, we work together!
Do you secretly hate yourself or your life? Are you tired of faking your smile? Are you ready to do something about the emptiness you are feeling inside? If so, together through uniquely designed therapeutic interventions we can help you genuinely smile again, from the inside- out. We will build gratitude and compassion, challenge cognitive distortions, build supports and community, and learn to naturally restore and produce life giving energies within our own body through heart rate variability biofeedback, balance, mindand intentional self-care.
Often individuals recover without using medication, sometimes some of my clients who are on medication management are able to seriously reduce the amount of psychotropic medication prescribed after our sessions together.
I am finally fulfilling my own personal and mythic destiny to be a counselor for individuals wanting to find their own purpose by resolving what has stopped them along their life path. I bring a depth and wealth of academic, professional and real world experiences and education to my clients.
Depression affects many people and come up a lot in my practice and I have experience helping those who struggle with depression to be able to function in everyday life.
Depression steals the hope and joy from our lives. We focus on the worst of what life is, often aided by an "inner critic," an internal "voice" that constantly demeans us. With the right tools, we can break the grip of depression and learn to see the world and ourselves a more realistic manner.
I approach depression initially by exploring your life circumstances and/or the thoughts going through your head that are trigging your mood. There are times when we may want to look at the old tape recordings playing through your head triggering depression. Once I have an idea of what is fueling your depression then we can target that. I teach your how to use thought strategies and behavior strategies to reduce depression and improve your mood. My goal is to teach you several tools so that in any given situation, you have a tool to use.
Depression often prevents use from engaging with others and activities that we generally would enjoy doing. I work with clients on developing coping mechanisms for depression and getting to the root of what is causing their depression. In doing so, my clients begin to enjoy life more and feel more connected with themselves and others.
