Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT
Self-Confidence is an essential skill to have in our lives, yet many of us fall short for various reasons. Sometimes, we were never taught or shown, while others may have a negative sense of self engrained from a young age. It is important to make self-confidence a constant priority in your life, because when you can “fill your tank” with confidence, instead of the negativity, you will begin to recognize your true self. And LOVE THE LIFE YOU HAVE! I will strive to help you process through your own current state of confidence and help to gain a new perspective, while making changes as you see fit to become more of your true self.

We are all bombarded by messages that tell us we are not good enough. We are faced with comparing ourselves to others at nearly every click of screen. Social media, pressure from school, home, and work, and the pressure to perform continue to mount an all out assault on the self-esteem on children, teens, and adults. We can work together to build self-esteem so that you can feel good about who you are and have the confidence to do great things.

I will help you identify and challenge negative self-talk and beliefs, while promoting self-compassion and acceptance. Cognitive-behavioral techniques may be used to reframe unhelpful thoughts and develop more realistic and positive self-perceptions. Additionally, therapy may involve exploring past experiences and relationships that have influenced self-esteem, fostering greater self-awareness and understanding.

Low self esteem and a poor self image, which can get to a point for some people of self-hatred, erodes your life. In spite of achievements, you never feel good enough, and can't feel truly at peace. Because poor self esteem is often a lifelong problem, it can be very hard to resolve on your own. It is often related to trauma in childhood. When I work with clients who struggle with low self esteem, I want to understand how they came to the belief that they are generally not good enough. We also will look at how habits of thought, feeling, behavior, and self care may be reinforcing a negative self image, and work on making changes so a positive self image can be reinforced instead.
